Ben Barker will return to the GT World Challenge Europe in 2023 aiming for a first international sportscar crown as he teams up with Dinamic GT Huber Racing for the series’ five-round Endurance Cup competition.
Barker, who continues to race regularly in the FIA World Endurance Championship, will partner Porsche Supercup drivers Philipp Sager and Marius Nakken in the #55 Porsche GT3R 992, bringing his gold driver rating and vast experience to spearhead the trio’s assault on the highly-competitive Bronze Cup category. The Briton already has some GTWCE mileage under his belt after a brief foray into the series last season, and is familiar with the Dinamic Motorsport operation, having raced with them in the most recent Asian Le Mans Series campaign.
Barker’s entry will be one of three Dinamic GT Huber Racing cars on track in the Endurance Cup, as the team looks to build on its record as the only team in Fanatec GT Europe history to earn overall race victories in four consecutive Endurance Cup seasons. The new Dinamic GT Huber Racing alliance also has big shoes to fill as its predecessor, Dinamic Motorsport, won on its series debut, on home soil at Monza, back in 2019. Barker’s #55 car will be partnered by entries in both the Pro and Silver Cup categories this season.
“I’m excited to get going as I think we have a strong enough line-up to fight for class wins,” the 31-year-old commented. “Dinamic Motorsport has a strong pedigree in the GTWCE, and teaming up with Huber Racing only builds on that. The Bronze Cup has the biggest representation on the grid, and some very good driver line-ups, but I’m confident that we can run at the front in each of the five rounds. I’m particularly looking forward to ticking another item off my bucket list by contesting the Spa 24 Hours, especially as I missed out on racing there last year, but each of the rounds takes place on an iconic circuit, so I can’t wait to get out there in the new GT3R 992.”
Round one of the 2023 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup takes place at Monza, in Italy, this weekend (21-23 April).
